XKat can make your life a little easier and your users a little happier. By all means continue to do what you do to protect the files on your servers, but putting XKat on your users' desktops can give them a sense of control and provide your organization with a multi-layered approach to file management.

Consider, for example, those users who must copy or synchronize their files to an external disk (such as a thumb drive or, say, a laptop that's on the network). Solution: install XKat on their computers, set up their XKat jobs and tasks, and then create an XKat "quick-run" desktop shortcut. The users will only need to double-click the shortcut and XKat will launch, copy or sync files, and close. A simple and robust solution.

For even greater user convenience, schedule an XKat job or task to run automatically at a regular interval using either the XKat Scheduler or the Windows Task Scheduler. The user will have to do nothing else but make sure their computer is turned on. Now that's automation.

What's more, your more sophisticated users can create and edit their own XKat tasks, leaving you the time to focus on more pressing matters.

A bit more: there is no reason not to install XKat on your Windows servers. Again, don't forego your regular tape backups, but you can easily increase your fault tolerance by using XKat to automatically copy critical files across your network or over the Internet. Diversity is strength.

XKat is free to try.
